Our Multi-sectoral Research and Innovation and Practice Platform’ Project, supported by T.R. Ministry of Development and ISTKA (Istanbul Development Agency) and started with the academic studies of Doğuş University on 01.09.2015. In the Project, also supported by BİLSAN, ballistic-resistant glass which doesn’t prevent angle of sight, nano-coating materials and isolation technologies are developed.
WHAT DID WE GAIN?
Istanbul Security Directorate Criminal Department’s experts have shot ALP01 Ballistic Composite Glass, whose patent examination is still carried out with File Number P2016/04562, and the material has shown a successful ballistic performance, as you can see in the pictures on the right.
ALP01 has also been tested with ballistic tests concerning Kalashnikov AK-47 7,62×51 mm bullet, and has succeeded. In ALP01 composite transparent ballistic glass, the layered structure doesn’t let the fired bullet crack the glass so that there is no sight loss. This image on the right has been given to make comparison between the image of the known ballistic glass after the bullet hits on it and the image after the firing of the bullet on ALP01.
?IF ALREADY PRODUCED, WHY DO WE MAKE RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT STUDIES?
Because the researched Smart Ballistic Composite has some fundamental differences from its past congeners. The armored glass used today has certain durability levels, but in case of an attack the bullets stuck in the glass cause serious cracks and give the glass a ground-glass appearance,
thereby, loss of sight. The loss of the sight at the time of the attack is very important for defense. The studies have been intensified for the solution of this problem.
